My New Role at Altar84

As I think about my service alongside the wonderful people of Altar84, I can’t help but be overcome with gratitude. Over the past four years we have seen many churches, families, and children blessed through the efforts of a few dedicated, passionate people. These years have been extremely challenging but, through the prayer and hard work of our small team, we have accomplished much.

We have created Woven, a six-week bible study designed to lay a solid Biblical foundation for caring for the least of these, as revealed from Genesis to Revelation.   We have also developed AltarCare, a gospel-centered strategy for doing the work of orphan care, in and through the local church. We’ve hosted multiple conferences and training seminars teaching orphan care to thousands. Another accomplishment that I am extremely proud of is the strategy we’ve developed and implemented in Haiti. The primary focus of this strategy is to equip our partnering communities in Haiti to care for their vulnerable and orphaned children.

I could go on and on about all the great things God has done through our efforts at Altar84 but, with that said, my role at Altar84 is changing. Over the next few weeks, I will transition from the role of Executive Director to that of Director of Global Works and Board Member. This new position is a volunteer position. This change enables Altar84 to be good stewards of the resources that God has entrusted to us to serve His church, families, and children more efficiently.

My new role at Altar will focus on developing and executing our work in Haiti and, Lord willing, multiplying this effort with other partners around the world. Currently we are working through a multi-phase approach that seeks to provide the holistic support our partnering communities need to move from relief to development and then to reform. Our desire is to see these communities transformed in such a way that they are self-sustaining and self-supporting, to the glory of God.

As we make these organizational changes I ask that you pray for us. Please pray that God will continue to provide all that we need to faithfully serve the orphan and vulnerable, both locally and globally.

Thank you,

Johnny Grimes
